Following a busy start to the New Year, I took the opportunity to go out and shoot something a bit different. LoneWolf Spirits are the distilling division of Scottish Craft Beer company BrewDog UK. They are based in Aberdeenshire and launched in 2017. They are committed to producing high quality small batch gins and vodkas while injecting a certain element of craftsmanship into the spirit making process.
I wanted to reflect their emphasis on choosing high quality natural ingredients for making their drinks and so chose to shoot the bottle of London Dry Gin in local woodland. While wanting to incorporate the beauty of the surrounding woodland, it was important to make sure that the focus of the image was very much on the bottle which features strong branding and a classy, understated colour scheme. In order to isolate the bottle completely I decided it would be a fun challenge to produce some ‘floating’ images which are not only technically intriguing, but also show the product with fewer distractions yet still in the woodland setting.
Finally, I thought it would be interesting to combine product photography with my interest in long exposure photography and captured the gin resting in a stream with the water becoming softer in its appearance in the final image. Overall I was very pleased with the final set of images!
